Ferrara, the Right Bank of the river Po and the Delta
Itineraries by bycicle for organized groups (minumum 15 people)

The entire day dedicated to visiting the Abbey of Pomposa, a masterpiece of Romanesque and Byzantine art. Visit to the church and the bell-tower, part of the cloister and the buildings which used to serve as refectory and dormitory. The route continues to Goro, a town on the correspondingly-named Sacca, and to Gorino, a fishing village, the last inhabited outpost on the 'Right Bank' route. Light lunch in a restaurant and return to the hotel in the afternoon.

Day 5 - Cannevič and return

EXTENSIONS
Day 5 - Cannevič/Comacchio/Porto Garibaldi (Km 39)

After breakfast, departures for Comacchio, the most unique and fascinating historical centre of the Po Delta, famous for its Trepponti bridge where five canals meet. To the south of the town are the remarkable marshes, of great value for the nesting of water-birds as well as for the species of fish found there, in particular eels. Light lunch in a restaurant. Evening arrival at Porto Garibaldi or its surroundings, hotel check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 - Porto Garibaldi/Comacchio Marshes/Ravenna (Km 55)

Breakfast and, after crossing Comacchio, the route proceeds along the Agosta riverbank, with a view of the surrounding marshland. The route crosses the River Reno at Sant'Alberto. Picnic lunch provided. Arrival in Ravenna in the early afternoon. Hotel check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7 - Ravenna (Km 33)

Breakfast, dinner and overnight stay. The morning dedicated to viewing the city, with San Vitale and Sant'Apollinare in Classe. Light lunch in a restaurant. Afternoon free.

Day 8 - Ravenna and return

Day 1 - Arrival in Ferrara

Arrival in Ferrara, hotel check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 - Ferrara (Km 24)

Breakfast, dinner and overnight stay in hotel. Light lunch in a restaurant. The entire day dedicated to exploring the city by bicycle. Ferrara is still surrounded by its cuty walls: kilometres of red brick structure nad three-lines paths immersed in greenery and silence. A city shaped by the Po throughout the centuries, Ferrara remains closely linked to its winding medieval streets, still amazingly intact.

Day 3 - Ferrara and the Right Bank route of the Po  (Km 88)

Breakfast and departure, by bicylcle, following the cycle paths that run along the bank of the Po. The river runs for some kilometres between high bank without flood beds, thus hanging over the surrounding countryside. Stop for a light lunch at Berra. In the afternoon, the route continues to Mesola. Evening arrival in Cannevič or its surroundings, hotel check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 - The Po Delta and Pomposa (Km 52)

Breakfast, dinner and overnight stay in hotel.  


Day 5 - Cannevič/Ferrara (Km 13)

Breakfast and departure by bicycle to reach Codigoro. Return to Ferrara by train and transfer to the hotel by public city bus. Free lunch. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 6 - Ferrara and return
Breakfast and optional transfer on request to the railway station or to the airport.
